Located in the mitts of the forest reserve Vorlok the gorge Vorlokki is surrounded by pine trees and blueberries, streams, and moos. While in summer you can hear the songs of a lot of birds, in winter you get fascinated by the amount of snow and the peace and quiet.
The gorge of Vorlokki is accompanied by a lot of myths and stories. A lot of them include trolls. The word Vorlokki can be translated into "ugly" and "horrible". Those words concern the stories told about the time the gorge was founded and all the trolls that could have lived there.
This mystical Vorlokki gorge, located in the wild and wide Finnish forest is definitely worth a visit. The impressive rocks and the peace and quiet is a perfect way to leave the day-to-day routines behind.
Public transport
The Ukkohalla Ski&Sport Resort can be reached with the bus from Kajaani. Within 2 hours and 40 minutes one can reach the bus stop Ukkohalla Lauttakylä, from where the Resort is just 2 km away.
When arriving at the resort one can hike up the skiing slope, start the Vorlokinkierros circle trail from there and will pass the Vortikka cliff within an hour.
