Wooden walkways, bridges and short tunnels lead you safely through the gorge, bringing you close to the power of the rushing water. One of the highlights is the impressive “Devil’s Staircase” and the viewing platform known as the “Kitzlochklamm gorge eye”. From here you look deep into the wild Teufelsschlucht and down onto the roaring waters below.
The trail continues past the historic hermitage and towards the pilgrimage church of Maria Elend. Adventurous visitors can also tackle the challenging via ferratas that run alongside the gorge.
For a truly magical atmosphere, the evening event “Gorge & Sound” transforms the gorge into a glowing world of light, music and rushing water.

The Kitzlochklamm in Taxenbach is easy to reach by public transport 👉 Current connections and timetables can be found at salzburg-verkehr.at🚶🏻♀️ Walking time from the nearest public transport stop: approx. 20 minutes

🚴🏻♀️ By bike: If you are cycling along the Tauern Cycle Path, leave the route in Taxenbach and follow the road and the signs towards Kitzlochklamm gorge. This will take you comfortably to the entrance of the gorge by bike.Parking
There is a parking area directly at the entrance to Kitzlochklamm gorge, which is also suitable for coaches (subject to a fee). If this car park is full, two additional large parking areas are located a few minutes before the gorge.Coordinates
