Während der letzten Eiszeit entstand vor ca. 12 000 Jahren der Gehautobel zwischen Unteruhldingen und Meersburg. Der Kleine Ramsbach hat sich hier im Steilhang des Bodenseeufers tief in die weichen Sedimente der Steinbalmensande (Obere Süßwassermolasse) eingegraben und damit den kleinen Tobel geschaffen. Ein kleiner Wasserfall zeugt von der fortschreitenden Erosion.
