Taldurchbruch zwischen Sengsengebirge und Reichraminger Hintergebirge (Großer Größtenberg)
Auf dem Weg zum Biwakplatz begleitet man die Krumme Steyrling ein Stück weit Flussaufwärts. Sie bahn sich ihren Weg entlang des Sengsengebirges in einem engen, schluchtartigen Tal. Dieser Abschnitt ist geprägt von großen Steinen und Felsblöcken im Wasserbett, von Totholz und Überresten alter Triftverbauten, welche zusammen eine ungezähmte Ästhetik geschaffen haben. Mit ein wenig Glück lässt sich hier das Wappentier des Nationalpark Kalkalpen - der Steinadler - beobachten.
