Zwischen Simmerberg und Röthenbach hat sich der Ellhofer Bach einen tiefen, angenehmkühl-feuchten Tobel gegraben.Die Landschaft im ausgewiesenen Flora-Fauna-Habitat wechselt immer wieder zwischen sanften und wilden Abschnitten. Mal wandert der Bach träge durch den Tobelwald im Schluchtgrund, dann wieder spingt und stäubt er über Felsbarrieren.
