A stunning 70 acre garden of significant horticultural importance situated in the heart of the Welsh Marches.
With stunning views towards the Black Mountains, the gardens have spectacular spring and autumn colour. Created over 120 years by five generations of the Banks family, they contain more than 5,000 rare trees and shrubs. Extending over 70 acres, Hergest Croft Gardens holds National Collections of Maples, Birches and Zelkovas, plus over 130 champion' trees. In addition to a traditional vegetable garden, the Kitchen Garden features a spring border under ancient apple trees, next to a long, double herbaceous border and beds of old-fashioned scented roses. The impressive collection of azaleas in the Azalea Garden is combined with a great variety of unusual trees & shrubs; Maple Grove contains many new plants introduced from all over the world, including the Far East. Walk through the Park, with its magnificent collection of specimen trees, and across Haywood Common is Park Wood; This secluded valley, hidden deep in an ancient oak wood, contains over 30 acres of giant rhododendrons and exotic trees. Whether you are a keen gardener in search of inspiration, a discerning dendrologist or just looking for a quiet place in which to stroll, visiting this unique, atmospheric garden is a truly memorable experience. Unusual trees, shrubs, and herbaceous plants for sale. Gift Shop. Maples Tearoom offers delicious light lunches and teas (home-made, from locally sourced ingredients) to complete your perfect day out. Hergest Croft Gardens have recently been awarded "Hidden Gem " status by VisitEngland
