The Box is Plymouth’s new art gallery, which has a range of exhibitions featuring fine and modern art. It is run by Plymouth City Council.

The Box opened in 2020 as part of the commerative celebrations of 400 years since The Mayflower made it's voyage across the Atlantic Ocean to America carrying the pilgrim fathers who started the colony which ended up becoming the USA as we know it today.

The gallery hosts a wide range of different exhibitions, some of which are permanant exhibitions such as the '100 Journeys' exhibition which describes the 100 most influential journeys out of Plymouth Harbour, from Francis Drake to Charles Darwin. It is also home to the 'Port of Portsmouth' exhibit which shows many different artists intrepretations of the port, some of which modern and some classical.

And if you get a bit peckish whilst browsing the artistic wonders on show you can always stop off for a quick bite at The Box Kitchen & Bar which is open for 3 course meals or just an afternoon cream tea.
