The Raseborg Castle Ruin dates back to time, when Finland was part of Sweden. Walk in the Hall of Knights and the tower chambers and admire the lovely views from the viewing platform!
Raseborg Castle was built in the 1370s as an administrative centre for Western Uusimaa. It was also an important defensive fortification and a commercial centre intended as a counterpart to Tallinn. The history of this royal castle includes thousands of stories with themes ranging from a spellbinding tale of love and the shipwreck of a treasure ship to the collapse of beer cellars and the end of the castle's era of glory. In the late Middle Ages, Raseborg Castle represented the power of the King of Sweden in Finland. Life in the castle varied from the everyday chores of a simple administrative centre to luxurious court life. The Castle Guard's lodge offers visitors good food, drinks and information on the castle. The lodge is also responsible for ticket sales for the castle, guided tours and children's time-travel adventures, and sells postcards and local produce. Theatre dinners on show nights and thematic dinners tailored for other events are also on offer.
