Die Kaiserburg Nürnberg ist das Wahrzeichen der fränkischen Metropole. Sie wurde Anfang des 12. Jahrhunderts auf dem Burgfelsen errichtet, der innerhalb der Grenzen der Stadtmauer liegt.
Bereits seit dem Mittelalter steht die Nürnberger Kaiserburg für Macht und Einfluss. Die Könige der Salier und Staufer hielten in Nürnberg vor allem Hoftage und Reichsversammlungen ab. Im 19. Jahrhundert ließ König Ludwig I. die Burg komplett restaurieren, um dort wohnen zu können. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg wurden große Teile dieser Restaurierungen zerstört – die mittelalterlichen Bauteile blieben jedoch wie durch ein Wunder fast vollständig erhalten.
