In the heart of the Frankenberg district lies the legendary Frankenberg Castle from the 13th century.
Many a legend has grown up around the former moated castle. Charlemagne is said to have given his third wife Fastrada a ring that would bind her to the great Franconian ruler forever. After her death, Bishop Turpin found the ring and threw it into the castle moat. Since then, the ghost of Charlemagne has repeatedly visited Frankenberg Castle. Only here can he find peace. Today the castle, of which only the main building remains, is a cultural center and in the summer months it is a popular venue for Das Da Theater. Are you still looking for a great wedding location? Frankenburg Castle, located in the heart of Aachen's trendy district, is also ideal for this!
