Schlichte Schönheit aus dem spätren Mittelalter in der legendaären Landschaft von Aberdeenshire

Das genaue Jahr, in dem die Burg errichtet wurde, steht nicht fest, die erste Erwähnung erfolgte 1507, als der Besitzer der Ländereien wechselte. Später wurde die Burg als Unterkunft für Regierungstruppen genutzt. Zwischen 1827 und 1831 wurde hier der Schmuggel von verbotenem Whisky überwacht. Auffallend ist die Form der Burgmauer, denn diese erinnert an einen Stern.

Von der A95 abfahren auf die B9008, der Straße bis Tomintoul folgen, dann links auf die A939 abbiegen und der Straße folgen. Nach der Überquerung des River Don rechts abbiegen. Die Straßen haben ab hier keine Namen mehr. An der nächsten Kreuzung links abbiegen und dem Weg bis zur Burg folgen.
