Hohenschwangau Castle is the childhood home of King Ludwig II. The numerous grand halls, such as the Great Hall, the Oriental Room, the Hohenstaufen Room, and the Tasso Room, are well worth a visit.

Hohenschwangau Castle is the childhood home of King Ludwig II and was also his summer residence until his death. The castle was rebuilt in the neo-Gothic style by King Maximilian II in 1832 and features numerous grand halls, such as the Great Hall, the Oriental Room, the Hohenstaufen Room, and the Tasso Room.

Visiting the castle is only possible through guided tours offered in multiple languages. Tickets for the tours can be obtained at the Ticket Center.

Dear Annamarie, In Pfronten there is the ruin of Falkenstein Castle, also built by King Ludwig, from which you can enjoy a beautiful view of Neuschwanstein Castle as well as the castle ruins of Eisenberg and Hohenfreyberg. Below the castle ruins there is a small castle museum displaying a miniature model of the planned castle.
