A famatuzsálemek erdőn belül is jól elkülönülő csoportja azt sejteti, hogy – sok dunántúli idős erdőhöz hasonlóan – fás legelő lehetett itt a múltban. Aljnövényzete gazdag, sokféle erdei fajból áll, amiknek láthatóan volt idejük betelepülni, ha korábban esetleg intenzívebben is használták az erdőt.
