Le hêtre ou fouteau (en patois) de la vierge est situé sur la parcelle 76.

C'est un hêtre trapu et branchu au tronc couvert d'initiales. Sa circonférence est de 4.30 m à 1.50 m du sol. Le GR22 passe au pied de cet arbre.

Autrefois les hommes vénéraient la nature et avainet sacralisé des arbres. Plus tard, lors de l'évangélisation, ces anciens lieux de culte ont souvent été christianisés. Ainsi, des objets de culte avaient été placés dans les arbres où les locaux avaient l'habitude de prier. Certains ont gardé trace de cette ancienne pratique dans leurs noms tel que le Hêtre de la Vierge ou le Chêne de la Vierge (situé derrière le prieuré St Ortaire parcelle 100)
