Au nord de la plaine d'Alsace, la forêt de Haguenau s'étend sur plus de 13.000 ha, des Vosges jusqu'au Rhin.

Surnommée "forêt sainte", elle conserve de nombreuses traces de son passé dont près de 450 tumulus préhistoriques et un arbre mythique, le "Gros chêne", associé à la légende de saint Arbogast.
