Its bright, silvery shimmering leaf background gave the poplar its name and gives it a lively, almost shimmering appearance, especially in the wind. Due to its size, vitality and rarity, it is considered by experts to be a unique specimen of supra-regional importance.
The location is also a popular vantage point. From here, a wide view opens up over Bad Boll, the Stauferland region and the striking mountain ranges of the Drei Kaiserberge. The combination of imposing tree form and wide panorama makes the silver poplar a worthwhile destination for walks, short hikes and photo tours.
As a protected natural monument, it is under special care. Its preservation is of great importance not only from an ecological but also from a cultural-historical point of view - as a living witness to past generations and as a defining landmark of the landscape around Bad Boll.
