Mit einer Höhe von 20 Metern und einem Stammumfang von 12 Metern gehört die Kaiser-Lothar-Linde zu einer der imposantesten Linden in Deutschland.

Benannt wurde sie nach Kaiser-Lothar III. Der Legende nach pflanzte er die Linde 1135 bei der Grundsteinlegung des Kaiserdoms. Bereits im Mittelalter fungierte sie als Sammelpunkt. Zunächst als Versammlungs- und Gerichtsplatz und bei Tanzfesten. Als sogenannte „Tanzlinde“ saß in den unteren Ästen die Kapelle, darunter wurde getanzt. Später befand sich in der Linde ein Aussichtsbalkon. Seit 1956 steht die Kaiser-Lothar-Linde unter Naturschutz. In den Jahren waren Baumchirurgische Maßnahmen wie Abstützen und Verspannen notwendig, um die Besucher weiterhin jedes Jahr mit reicher Blüte erfreuen zu können.
