Phryganic vegetation with the predominant species of “hamepefki” (Ptilostemon chamaepeuce) is found in this location. “Hamepefki” thrives in the crevices of the rocks, on the slopes and cliffs of Kythera. It grows so densely in some palces that during its flowering in spring, it turns the rocky sea landscapes of the island into rosy meadows. Thus, in recent years, its use as an ornamental plant has been considered. The name of the plant comes from its thin, needle-like leaves that resemble pine needles. It is a characteristic endemic species of the eastern Mediterranean.
