Bischofskirche in der Erzdiözese Bamberg

Charakteristisch sind die vier Türme des Doms, die paarweise die beiden gegenüberliegenden Chöre umschließen. In seiner heutigen Gestalt ist der Dom das Ergebnis einer langen Baugeschichte. Während der Ostbau von der späten Romanik geprägt ist, kann der Westbau der frühen Gotik zugerechnet werden.

In Auftrag gegeben wurde der Dom von Heinrich II., der zusammen mit seiner Frau Kunigunde in der Krypta bestattet ist. Durch die beiden Gräber wurde der Dom im Mittelalter zu einem beliebten Wallfahrtsort. Bis heute ist der Bamberger Dom Zeuge seiner langen Geschichte und gleichermaßen Ausdruck der Frömmigkeit und des Glaubens.
