Die Innerstetalsperre, mit einer Länge von 7,4 Kilometern, eignet sich aufgrund asphaltierter Straßen gut für eine Umrundung zu Fuß, mit Inlinern oder dem Fahrrad. Die Nutzung der Talsperre seit 1966 dient der Trinkwassergewinnung, dem Hochwasserschutz, der Niedrigwasseraufhöhung und der Energieerzeugung.
