Das Hornbergbecken ist das obere Becken des Pumpspeicherkraftwerks Wehr, mit der Wehratalsperre als Unterbecken. Mit einer mittleren Jahreserzeugung von 1,16 Milliarden Kilowattstunden gehört es zu den weltweit größten Pumpspeicheranlagen. Möglich macht dies die Fallhöhe von 630 Metern aus dem in über 1.000 Metern Höhe gelegenen, rund 700 m x 300 m großen und 46 m tiefen Hornbergbecken.
