The beach with its golden sand and crystal clear water is well known as a postcard motif. Framed by dunes, green hills with pine trees and cliffs, Barafundle Bay makes a beautiful picture. The beach is only accessible on foot, with the nearest car park half a mile away.
The path is not suitable for prams and wheelchairs. The beach is reached via steps that lead between the cliffs to the water, making arrival a small adventure in itself. There are no services on the beach, which makes the stay a close-to-nature experience.
Off-peak, you often have Barafundle Bay to yourself and feel cut off from the world. If you want to visit the beach, you should check the tides to find enough sandy strips and not be surprised by the water. A beautiful circular walk starts in the small harbour of Stackpole. It leads across Barafundle Bay to Stackpole Head and past a huge lake full of water lilies towards Bosherston and back to the starting point.
