The Protestant church in Bornheim, built in 1765, is a fine example of Baroque architecture. Characteristic features are the ridge-turreted bell tower and the four ox-eye windows in the gable field. The church originally housed an organ dating from 1799, which was replaced in 1922 and has been restored several times since. In 1995, the ceiling of the church was completely renewed and in 2002, the roof of the church was fitted with a photovoltaic system. The building covers 123 square metres and is a testimony to the religious and architectural history of the region.
The interior of the church is simple and bright, typical of the Protestant Reformed tradition. In the choir there is a wooden communion table, a steep pulpit and the vicar's chair. The church seats 210 people in the nave and gallery. Of particular interest is the ridge turret on the west side of the church, which houses two bells.
Another special feature of the Protestant church is the stork's nest on the roof.
The Protestant Church can be viewed from the outside at any time.
