Die St. Gallus-Kirche wurde 1219 zum ersten Mal urkundlich als selbstständige Pfarrei mit einem eigenen Priester erwähnt. Doch dürfte die Pfarrei und der erste Kirchenbau wesentlich älter sein. Der Kirchenbau dürfte in seiner jetzigen Form als einschiffige romanische Anlage aus der Bauzeit erhalten geblieben sein:
Einfaches Kirchenschiff und Chor mit ebenso einfachen rippenlosen Kreuzgewölben.
Die Kirche wurde am 3. Dezember 1466 nach grösseren Bauvorhaben durch den Churer Weihbischof Johannes Nells aus dem Minoritenorden neu konsekriert. Eine weitere Weihe erfolgte im Jahr 1518. Aus dieser Zeit stammt der wertvolle spätgotische Flügelaltar aus der Werkstatt von Ivo Strigel in Memmingen.
