The parish church of Kirchberg am Wechsel has shaped the townscape for centuries. Its history dates back to the Middle Ages, when an important monastery was built here, which had a lasting impact on the spiritual and cultural life of the region.
The building itself is an impressive example of late Gothic sacred architecture, which was repeatedly extended and artistically decorated in later centuries. Particularly worth seeing are the magnificent ribbed vaults, baroque altars and artistic frescoes, which make the combination of medieval austerity and baroque splendor palpable.
The former monastery, which was closely linked to the church, shaped education, pastoral care and culture in the Wechsel region for centuries. This significance can still be felt today when you walk through the historic town center and take in the mighty walls of the complex.
