Obdach, Pfarrkirche hl. Ägydius
Die Pfarrkirche Obdach ist dem “Hl. Ägidius” geweiht. Sie wurde 1207 erstmals als Filiale von Weißkirchen urkundlich erwähnt, war schon im 13. Jh. Pfarre und bis 1958 dem Stift St. Lambrecht zugehörig. Die Kirche steht erhöht über dem Ort und war, inmitten des Friedhofs, von einer hohen Mauer umgeben, Teil der Marktbefestigung und Zufluchtsort in unruhigen Zeiten. Reste dieser Mauer sind heute noch an der Nordseite erhalten. An der südlichen Außenseite weist die Kirche Freskenreste des hl. Christophorus aus dem 16. Jh. sowie ein gut erhaltenes, 1979 renoviertes Ölbergfresko (14. Jh.) auf. Die heutige Kirche ist 3-schiffig. Das Mittelschiff und Chorquadrat sind romanisch, Südschiff und Sakristei gotisch und das Nordschiff geht auf die 2.H.d.17. Jhs. zurück und ist somit barock. Der Innenraum wirkt durch das breit gelagerte Sternrippengewölbe großräumig und erweckt den Eindruck von Harmonie zwischen gotischer Architektur und barocker Ausstattung. Die Kirche hat drei Altäre. Der Hochaltar (1805) ist dem Kirchenpatron geweiht; am linken Seitenaltar erscheinen die 14 Nothelfer, der rechte ist ein Apostelaltar, welcher Christus den Auferstandenen inmitten der zwölf Apostel zeigt. Beide Altäre entstanden in den Jahren 1696/97. Bemerkenswert ist die gotische Schnitzstatue des hl. Ägidius an der Orgelempore (um 1470).
Eine barocke überlebensgroße Kreuzgruppe aus der 1.H.18.Jh., die hll. Leonhard und Johann Nepomuk aus dem 1.V.d.18.Jhs. sowie zwei weitere Heiligenfiguren aus dem 2.V.d.18.Jhs. von Balthasar Prandtstätter und ein runder oben ins Achteck übergehender Taufstein (16. Jh.) mit Holzaufsatz (um 1700) ergänzen das Kircheninventar.
