Maria Saal Cathedral, officially known as the Provost and Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Mary, is an important religious and cultural landmark in the center of Carinthia. Often referred to as the "mother of all Carinthian churches", the cathedral looks back on over 1,200 years of history and is considered the starting point of the Christianization of the country.
High above the Zollfeld, in the middle of a vast cultural landscape between the towns of Klagenfurt and St. Veit an der Glan, rises the cathedral of Maria Saal, one of the most important sacred buildings in Carinthia and a landmark of Christian history in the Alps-Adriatic region. Known as the "mother church of Carinthia", it not only plays a central role in religious life, but also bears witness to centuries of cultural and political developments.
