Located on the shores of Lake Longemer, the small chapel was built around 1449 by the Canonesses of Remiremont to perpetuate…honor the memory of Bilon, an officer under Gérard of Alsace who became a hermit and lived in 1056 at the place still known today as “la butte Bilon.” Having fallen into ruin, it was rebuilt in 1727 and dedicated to Saint Florent by a bishop of Strasbourg. Open to the public during Heritage Days or by request, it is home to the hermit’s remains.
