Die neugotische Kirche wurde in den Jahren 1894 bis 1898 von Heinrich Guth erbaut und überstand sogar den Zweiten Weltkrieg unbeschadet, obwohl Saarbrücken in den Jahren von 1942 bis 1945 fast flächendeckend zerstört wurde.
