Die große Glocke der Kirche wurde leider während des Ersten Weltkrieges eingeschmolzen und 1922 durch ein Klangstahlfabrikat ersetzt. Sie stammte aus der Gießerei Schilling bei Apolda. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg nahm die Kirche schweren Schaden, als die Kirchturmspitze durch die Artillerie der US Army abgeschossen wurde. Erst 2008 konnte der Kirchturm in seiner ursprünglichen Substanz wieder hergestellt werden.
Im Inneren ist vor allem ein historischer Taufstein aus dem Jahr 1622 und die Grabplatte des Mönches Curt Hauser, Freund Luthers, der dem Reformator 1532 im Ort eine Lutherlinde setzte. Im Übrigen ist die Kirchenausstattung im Jugendstil gehalten und wurde neben der pneumatischen Orgel, den Kirchenfenstern und dem Dachstuhl zuletzt 1996 von der Gemeinde restauriert.
