Die Gedächtniskirche wird in Speyer auch Retscherkirche genannt. Sie wurde in den Jahren 1893-1904 zur Erinnerung an die 1529 auf dem Reichstag vollzogene Protestation errichtet. Mit dem höchsten in Speyer befindlichen Turm (100 m) ausgestattet, gehört dieser in allen Teilen qualitätsvoll gestaltete Kirchenbau im neugotischen Kathedralstil zu den hervorragenden künstlerischen Leistungen seiner Zeit. Besonders sehenswert ist der Glasfensterzyklus.
