Die Falkensteinkirche ist eine dem Heiligen Wolfgang geweihte Wallfahrtskirche auf dem Steilhang des Falkensteins. Sie steht über der Höhle, in der der Legende nach der Heilige Wolfgang vor dem Teufel flüchtete. Bei seiner Flucht gelangte er auf den Falkenstein, wo sich vor ihm ein Felsen öffnete und ihn hindurch ließ. In dieser Höhlung lebte der Heilige Wolfgang fünf Jahre lang. Der Eingang in die Höhle ist knapp mannshoch. Durch ihn gelangt man in eine kleine Kammer, die sich in einer engen Kluftspalte fortsetzt. Eine Wolfgang-Kapelle auf dem Falkenstein wurde erstmals im Jahr 1350 urkundlich erwähnt. Im 16. Jahrhundert war der Falkenstein eine der wichtigsten Pilgerstätten Europas. 1626 ließ der Salzburger Pfleger von Hüttenstein, Johann Wilhelm Lueger, um die Höhle die heutige Kirche errichten. Der Altar, dessen Bild von 1630 von Pürkmann gemalt wurde und den Heiligen Wolfgang vor der Madonna und Pilgern zeigt, wurde 1692 aufgestellt. Von 1659 bis 1811 lebten in der Nähe der Kirche Einsiedler.

In der Nähe der Kirche befindet sich eien Quelle, die der Heilige Wolfgang für einen durstigen Laienbruder schuf. Er stieß mit seinem Stab in den Falkenstein und hervor sprudelte Wasser - eine Heilquelle, die noch heute fließt.

In der Nähe der Falkensteinkirche bzw. am zu ihr führenden Kreuzweg stehen noch weitere Kapellen wie bspw. die Kreuzkapelle mit einer geschnitzten Kreuzigung. Um sie sind Steine aufgehäuft, die von Pilgern zur Buße vom Tal heraufgetragen wurden. Etwas weiter bergauf von der Kirche befindet sich eine Kapelle an der Heilquelle. Rund 500 m südwestlich der Kirche stehen zwei Kapellen, die Beilwurfkapelle mit einem alten Steinmonument aus dem 15. Jahrhundert. Auf den Seiten trägt es Reliefs vom Heiligen Michael mit dem Drachen, eine Figur mit Hellebarde, ein Wappen und den eine Axt werfenden Heiligen Wolfgang. Die zweite Kapelle beherbergt ein Bild aus der Wolfgangslegende.

Auch zwei hervorragende Aussichtspunkte liegen nahe der Kirche: der Scheffelblick und der Aberseeblick.
