Stadt Ehingen (Donau)
Durch die Zugehörigkeit zum Habsburger Reich seit 1346 war die Ehinger Bevölkerung rein katholisch geblieben, obwohl sich in der Nachbarschaft die Reichsstädte Ulm und zeitweise Biberach der Reformation angeschlossen hatten. Im nahen Öpfingen, das zur reichsritterschaftlichen Herrschaft der Herren von Freyberg gehörte, hielt sich zeitweise der Reformator Kaspar Schwenkfeld (1490-1561) auf. Und in Kirchen, heute ein Teilort Ehingens, wurde vorübergehend die Reformation eingeführt. In Ehingen selbst zogen erst nach dem Übergang an das nachmalige Königreich Württemberg 1805/6 Protestanten zu. Ihre Zahl wuchs nur langsam und erst 1848 genehmigte das Konsistorium in Stuttgart die Bildung einer evangelischen Gemeinde als Filiale von Mundingen, das früher zu Württemberg gehört und daher protestantisch gewesen war. 1853 erhielt die Gemeinde Ehingen einen ersten Pfarrverweser und ein eigener Pfarrbezirk wurde gebildet. 1889 erfolgte die Erhebung der bisherige „Stadtpfarrverweserei“ zur „Stadtpfarrei“.
