Ev. church built on the site of an ancient Roman place of worship.
The old church tower of Wiesweiler dates back to Romanesque times and was built up from ashlars of a Roman villa located near today's Glanmühle. A Romanesque face console is worked into the masonry. During excavations, traces of this Roman villa were found in the district of Wiesweiler, Berschweiler. In 1335 Wiesweiler was first mentioned in a document as "Winsewilre". At that time, a Romanesque chapel stood here, which later fell into disrepair. In 1818 a new church was built incorporating the old Romanesque tower. In 1970-1974 its dilapidated nave was demolished. On the old ground plan a worship hall with two parish rooms was built. Since 1816, the independent parish of Wiesweiler has belonged to the parish of Offenbach and is part of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland.
