Only the tower and nave remain of this 12th-century Romanesque church. The Gothic choir dates from 1470, and was built by the Count of Lichtenberg, Jacques le Barbu. His tomb, surmounted by a magnificent recumbent statue, stood here until the French Revolution.
The stained glass windows were restored in 1970, to mark the 500th anniversary of the death of Jacques le Barbu. The main depiction is of the "Wedding at Cana", and it would seem that the two spouses are Jacques le Barbu and his concubine, the beautiful Barbara.
Dedicated to Saint James the Greater, the church may well have been a stopover on the road to Compostela.
