The Parish Church of S. Maria Assunta is located in the centre of the city of Riva del Garda.
Overlooking the large Piazza Cavour, the current building is a Baroque reconstruction (1728). The interior has a single nave and a side chapel of the Suffrage; it has numerous Baroque altars with friezes and stuccoes. Behind the main altar stands the large painting of the Assumption of Craffonara, of which the church preserves the best work, the Dolorata, on the fourth altar on the left. In the adjacent Piazzetta Craffonara a bust in bas-relief of the painter (1790-1837), by Francesco Trentini, and an ancient column. The ancient church, later destroyed, stood on this small square.
