The most important Baroque church in Trentino. Built in 1603, it was consecrated thirtyyears later as a place of pilgrimage for its tabernacle considered miraculous.
You are in front of one of the most important Baroque churches in Trentino. It was built between 1603 and 1639 at the behest of Gianangelo Gaudenzio Madruzzo, governor of Riva and Arco, and his wife Alfonsina Gonzaga, with the aim of preserving and showing the public the fresco of the Madonna and Child, considered miraculous. The painting, a sixteenth-century work by Bartolomeo Mangiavino di Salò, can now be admired in its niche above the main altar. In the choir there are frescoes from the school of Domenico Brusasorci and elegant carved stalls with scenes from the Bible. The altarpieces are the work of the painter Palma the Younger. The wall paintings, in oil, are by Pietro Ricchi called il Lucchese, those of the dome are attributed to Teofilo Polacco.
