Nichée dans un méandre de la Loire, la charmante petite commune de Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire abrite l'un des plus beaux joyaux de l’architecture romane : une basilique des XIe et XIIe siècles dont la tour-porche, ornée de douze chapiteaux historiés, le portail monumental et la nef en constituent les éléments les plus remarquables.

Dans la crypte, une châsse conserve les précieuses reliques de Saint-Benoît dont la règle rythme aujourd'hui encore la vie d'une communauté de moines.
