Chapel dedicated to the Virgin of the Rosary at the intersection of Pedemonte Street and Scleva Street in Cepina.
Chapel dedicated to the Virgin of the Rosary at the intersection of Via Pedemonte and Via Scleva in Cepina. It was built around 1843 after a landslide event on the Valècia stream, replacing an earlier one dating back to the 16th century that stood on the Demonti house (see map p. 18).The original wooden statue of Our Lady, dating back to the 17th century, is kept at the parish church in Cepina. It is equipped with different dresses to suit the various times of the liturgical year and for several years, it was housed at the home of Camilla Bracchi in Pedemonte. In earlier times there was another statue of the Virgin in a small wooden shrine about 30 cm high, now kept at a home in the district. Currently, the tabernacle and niche where Mary with Child is displayed, executed in Swiss stone pine by Giuseppe Valzer, a talented local carpenter and carver, are noteworthy. The plaster statue was donated by Don Francesco Cantoni, parish priest of Cepina (1895-1915). On May 20, 1951, Felice Colturi of Isaia placed a small wooden bell tower on the top, whose bell bears the name of his son Attilio, who fell in Arnautowo (Russia) on January 26, 1943. During the Corpus Christi and Good Friday processions people stop in front of the shrine to pray. To facilitate transit on the road, it was set back 2 meters from its original position in 2011.
