Beschreibung

Die Gegend um Micheldorf ist seit der Jungsteinzeit besiedelt. Bereits während der Hallstatt-Periode (750-400 v. Chr.) bestand auf dem Georgenberg eine Fliehburg mit doppeltem Wall.

Alle zwei Jahre - immer am Sonntag nach Georg (23.4.) - findet der Georgiritt statt. Mit prachtvollen, altertümlichen Kostümen geschmückte Reiter und Pferde ziehen durch den Ort auf den Georgenberg, der mit dem Hochzeitskirchlein und den prähistorischen Ausgrabungen zu den beliebtesten Ausflugszielen zählt.

Neben der Georgibergkirche ist der Gasthof von Familie Hebesberger.
