The chapel is located on the summit of Mount Thabor (3,183 meters) and is dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows.
The origin of the Chapel's construction is unclear. The only certainty is that in 1600 it was already present and a pilgrimage destination.
Numerous votive offerings hang on the Chapel's walls.
The Feast of the Chapel is held on August 24, the day on which St. Bartholomew is sanctified, but also the Transfiguration of Christ, which, according to the Bible, took place precisely in Galilee on Mount Thabor.
Since 1860, Mass has also been celebrated on July 16, following a vow made by the inhabitants of Melezet to end a typhus epidemic.
With the last war, the Narrow Valley and therefore also Mount Tabor were ceded to France, but the Chapel continues to be dear to the religious tradition of the inhabitants of Melezet.
Today it is a destination for summer hiking and ski mountaineering
