Pirunkirkko is a Z-shaped 33-metre-long cave, which is associated with mystical stories. It is located next to Rantatie road in Koli National Park.
Pirunkirkko (Devil’s Church) is a long and narrow boulder cave. It is high enough for standing and you can walk through it. Visitors don’t need special gear to explore the cave, but it is advised to take a flashlight with you. On the back wall of the cave is a poem written in 1893 by Finnish artist Eero Järnefelt: "one secret, one spirit, happiness for both, is this church, its holiness I remember forever". Järnfelt is well known for his love for Koli and its nature.
Pirunkirkko, which is a great daytrip destination, is in the southern part of Koli National Park next to Rantatie road. From the Pirunkirkko parking area next to Rantatie, there is a short path leading to steep metal stairs which take you to the entrance of the cave.
Pirunkirkko can be reached by car, bicycle or by walking. From Ukko-Koli walking distance is approx. 10 km. Pirunkirkko is also one of the starting points for the trails in the National Park: you can, for example join, the long Herajärven Kierros trail from Pirunkirkko.

By car from Koli village Pirunkirkko is south approx. 12 km on Rantatie road.
By walking from Ukko-Koli along the trails in Koli National Park the distance is approx. 10 km.
By bicycle cycle along Rantatie road. The road is a gravel road with plenty of hills.
