Das Freiburger Münster – das Wahrzeichen der Stadt Freiburg

Das Münster befindet sich in der Altstadt mit zentraler Lage auf dem Münsterplatz und ist mit seinem 116 m hohem Turm nicht zu übersehen. Heute ist das Freiburger Münster Pfarrkirche der Dompfarrei, Stadtkirche sowie Kathedrale der Erzdiözese Freiburg. Das Münster trägt das Patronat „Unsere liebe Frau“ und wurde somit der Mutter Maria geweiht. Der Bau begann um das Jahr 1200 und zog sich ungefähr 350 Jahre. Die meisten, die in den Bau des Gebäudes involviert waren, konnten das Endergebnis aufgrund der Dauer der Errichtung nicht mehr miterleben. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg wurden knapp 80 Prozent von Freiburg zerstört, dabei blieb das Münster allerdings von den Bomben verschont.
