The mighty town castle with its stepped gables, towers and galleries bears witness to the different architectural styles of past centuries - from Gothic origins to Baroque elements and neo-Gothic extensions in the 19th century. An architectural highlight is the castle chapel, the interior of which was designed in Baroque style around 1700 and renovated in neo-Gothic style in 1877.
Since 1971, the castle has been owned by the Kage family, who have turned it into a center for scientific and artistic photomicrography. In the KAGE Mikroversum, visitors experience fascinating insights into invisible worlds - a combination of art, science and technology that attracts international attention.
The castle stands for the symbiosis of tradition and innovation: a place where medieval history and modern imagery merge in a unique way. Group tours of the castle and museum are available by appointment.
