Das umfassend restaurierte Schloss ist in Privatbesitz.

1972 erwirbt der Kanton Aargau die Anlage des Schloss Wildensteins und verkauft sie 1973 an eine private Stiftung. 2004 taucht auf der Internet-Plattform Ebay ein ominöses Inserat auf, auf welchem das Schloss für fünf Millionen Franken verkauft werden soll. Gebote treffen keine ein.

2010 wird Schloss Wildenstein konkursamtlich versteigert, von einer Privatperson erworben und 2012 umfassend und fachgerecht restauriert.
