Schloss Rimpach verdankt seine Entstehung der Jagdleidenschaft eines adeligen Herrn und hohen kirchlichen Würdenträgers: Franz Carl Eusebius Graf zu Waldburg-Friedberg und Trauchburg (1701 - 1772). Fürstbischof in Chiemsee und Domdekan in Salzburg. In der Nachbarschaft der wildreichen Adelegg ließ sich Franz Carl ab 1754 ein architektonisch ausgesprochen orginelles Jagdschloss nach Entwürfen von Johann Anton Feuchtmayr errichten: Zwei annähernd kubische Flügelbauten wurden durch einen oktogonalen Torturm verbunden, durch den die Straße von Friesenhofen nach Isny hindurchführte und in dessen Obergeschoss der Hauptsaal untergebracht war.

Schloss Rimpach ist lediglich von Außen zu besichtigen. Die Schlosskapelle ist nur zu Gottesdiensten geöffnet; ein Fenster in der Türe ermöglicht einen Blick ins Innere.
