Im Jahre 1540 erwarb Pankratz d.J. von Stoffeln die Ortsherrschaft über den "Flecken" Eigeltingen. Der ließ 1543 das Hegi-Schloss erbauen. Als Herrschaftssitz war es einst dazu bestimmt in seinen gewölbten Kellern den Ertrag der Weinberge aufzunehmen und in seinen weiten Speichern die Ernte des herrschaftlichen Grundbesitzes, sowie die Zins- und Zehntfrüchte der Untertanen zu bergen. Später, um 1760, wurde eine Brauerei darin untergebracht. Noch 1906 sind im Adressbuch für die gesamte Bierindustrie Europas 3 Brauereien in Eigeltingen genannt. (Quelle: www.eigeltingen.de)
