Schloss Hardeck im bayerisch-böhmischen Grenzraum geht wahrscheinlich auf eine Ministerialenburg des 13. Jahrhunderts zurück und war zunächst in adligem Besitz.
Ab dem 14. Jahrhundert stritten das Kloster Waldsassen und die Stadt Eger um die kleine Herrschaft. Im 18. Jahrhundert bauten schließlich die Äbte von Waldsassen die Anlage zu einem Jagdschloss um und gaben ihr so das heutige Aussehen.
