Medieval fortification, now home to the Riva Municipal Museum, with an archaeological section that includes the famous Copper Age statue-stelae, as well as evidence from Roman times.
The Rocca di Riva is a fortress that has protected Riva del Garda and its inhabitants for centuries. The earliest records date back to 1124, but over the centuries the fortress underwent many transformations until the radical one in the mid-19th century, which gave it its current appearance. Despite the changes, even today this medieval fortification – with its stone and mortar walls, four corner towers and a small entrance bridge over the canal - retains an austere yet elegant appearance. Its walls house the MAG (Museo Alto Garda) and the art gallery, with works by Pietro Ricchi, Francesco Hayez and Vincenzo Vela, among others.
