This medieval manor house is located in the historic center of Ivrea, in the province of Turin.
Ivrea Castle was built in 1358 at the behest of Amedeo VI of Savoy, with a quadrangular plan, and has maintained its appearance as a defensive fortress over time. A symbol of the city, it owes its fame to its three "red towers" (while the fourth was partly destroyed in the 17th century and remains severed to this day), as Giosuè Carducci called them.
After extensive restoration work, the castle has recently reopened to the public. Guided tours allow visitors to explore the courtyard, the old prisons from when it served as a prison between 1750 and 1970, and the patrol walkways, never before accessible, which offer panoramic views of the city, the Morainic Amphitheater and the Aosta Valley.
